Grilli denies the OECD: no to new maneuvers

The minister replies to the negative forecasts of the Parisian institution: "As per our scenarios, it is clear that we have a balanced budget in 2014 as well".

Grilli denies the OECD: no to new maneuvers

The Secretary of the Treasury Vittorio Grilli denies the OECD. "I believe that a new maneuver in 2014 is not necessary," said the minister on the sidelines of a conference organized by Il Sole 24 Ore.

“Then if they have put conditional clauses I should look carefully at what they say – added Grilli referring to the observations of the OECD -. But I believe that, as well as from our scenarios, it is clear that we have a balanced budget also in 2014”.

The Parisian institution has revised downwards the forecasts on the Italian GDP, which now speak of a contraction of 2,2% for 2012 and 1% for 2013 (against the -0,4% previously estimated), before of the timid return to growth in 2014, with an increase of 0,6%. As for public debt, it is expected that it will grow to 127% in 2012, 129,6% in 2013 and 131,4% in 2014.

“If our estimate were to materialize – reads the bulletin released by the OECD – a further corrective maneuver on 2014 would be necessary”.
