Greece “is and will always be a country in the euro area”. Evangelos Venizelos, the Greek finance minister, has no hesitation in forcefully rejecting all the hypotheses circulating in recent days regarding the possible exit of Athens from the Eurozone. Indeed, the Government "will do everything necessary - added Venizelos - not to jeopardize the country and its position in Euroland".
Meanwhile, expectations are growing for the announcement of the new measures that the Greek Executive intends to put in place to try to restore the public accounts and escape the default in October. The primary objective is to convince our European cousins to give the green light to the new tranche of eight billion aid. In all likelihood, pensioners and civil servants will be particularly affected.
