Greece: agreement close with creditors, Varoufakis calls for debt restructuring

The agreement between Greece and international creditors is approaching. This was stated by the Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, asking, however, once again that Athens' debt is restructured, even if not cut, and that repayments be deferred over time to allow Greece to honor its payments.

Varoufakis, in fact, asked for the repayments of the bonds purchased by the ECB to be postponed as part of the Smp plan between 2010 and 2011: "Between July and August, the Finance Ministry will have to borrow 6,7 billion euros from our partners to repay in one way or another the bonds obtained under the Smp program".

“There are still - continued the Greek Finance Minister - about 27 billion euros of these bonds, which should be repaid in the coming months or years. These bonds should be deferred to the near future. This is clear".
