A rule to save the Municipality of Rome from bankruptcy and another to resolve the dispute over the gold rents paid by the State. These are the two main measures contained in the Millleproroghe decree that the Council of Ministers approved at the beginning of the afternoon.

The provision comes after the sensational withdrawal of the Rome-saving decree decided by the Government under pressure from the Head of State (who today returned to criticize the excessive proliferation of amendments): “We have decided not to complete it in Parliament due to the heterogeneity of non-essential rules – explained Prime Minister Enrico Letta -. The essential question is that the story of the Salva Roma decree demonstrates how essential a process of reform of the legislative system is. For us it is a stimulus to consider 2014 to start the legislative process, starting from the perfect bicameral system”.

In addition to the Milleproroghe, the Council of Ministers addressed "the distribution of European structural funds - explained the Premier - which risked not being used for the 2007-2013 financial year". This is a reallocation of funds for 6 billion and 200 million: Letta specified that 2,2 billion will be used to support businesses, 700 million for measures in favor of work and employment, 330 million for the fight against poverty and 3 billion to support local economies. A fund of 1,2 billion is also set aside to encourage lending to businesses.

“On employment – concluded the prime minister – a further 150 million euros are allocated for the decontribution, in particular, of youth employment, which is added to the 800 million in June. A further intervention in favor of the fight against youth unemployment in 2014 and 2015”.
