Satellite images from Google Earth may have led to the discovery of two pyramid complexes in Egypt. The archeology specializations now also include satellite archeology, and researcher Angela Micol, from North Carolina, has identified two sites: one in northern Egypt, near Abu Sidhum along the Nile: the largest hill extends for about 210 meters, about three times the Great Pyramid. The second site is 90 miles to the north, near the Fayoum oasis: a four-sided mound is noted, which appears pyramidal when viewed from above. Alongside are three more hillocks, in a formation similar to the diagonal alignment of the Giza pyramids. Both sites had never been noticed or explored, Egyptologist Nabil Selim said.
Google Earth has made it possible to locate other sites of archaeological significance, including a possible city - now underwater - off the Yucatan peninsula.
