Germany, "wind against" the Tobin Tax

The much-disputed tax on financial transactions approved yesterday by the European Parliament "has the wind against it", said Gunter Dunkel, head of Voeb, an association that brings together German banks.

Germany, "wind against" the Tobin Tax

The European Parliament wants it, German finance doesn't. The object of the dispute is once again the Tobin Tax, which he received only yesterday the green light from Strasbourg. An approval which, however, does not pave the way for the new tax on financial transactions, if it is true that the much-contested imposition "has the wind against". The author of the metaphor is Gunter Dunkel, number one of Voeb, an association that brings together German banks.

In any case, the moment of truth is about to arrive: after the European Parliament, the rules will now have to be passed by the 11 proposing countries. Including Germany.
