Wolfgang Schaeuble leaves the post of finance minister to become president of the Bundestag, the German federal parliament which expresses the popular representation of the Federal Republic of Germany object of last Sunday's elections.

Sources inside the CDU - the party to which Schauble belongs and of which Chancellor Angela Merkel is president - confirm the rumors published today by the newspaper Bild.

At the basis of the decision there would also be the close negotiations between the Cdue and the FDP for the formation of a new executive. The liberal party would have made the appointment of one of their representatives as finance minister as an essential condition for its participation in the coalition of government led by Merkel.

In Germany, the moment of the “toto-nomi” has already arrived. Among the figures in the running would be Werner Hoyer, current president of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
