Germany, industrial production above expectations in February

The industrial production figure for January was revised downwards by the German Economy Ministry, but that for February is instead slightly higher than analysts' expectations.

Industrial production rose again in Germany in February, with a +0,4% following the +0,7% in January. The figure for the beginning of the year was revised downwards by the German Ministry of the Economy, but the figure for February is slightly higher than analysts' expectations.

According to the German ministry, "industrial economic activity continued to intensify and production for the whole of the first quarter should be significantly higher than that of the last quarter of 2013".

An unexpected 0,6% rise on February's industrial orders was already reported on Friday, but the January figure was revised heavily downwards.
