The Zew index relating to economic expectations in Italy rose again in September to levels not seen for over three years: it rose by 7,6 points to 32,2, a new high since April 2010.

The Zew index of economic expectations in Italy rose again in September to levels not seen for more than three years. The index – elaborated on the basis of the opinions of 260 analysts and investors collected between 2 and 16 September – recorded an increase of 7,6 points in September to 32,2, the new highest level after the 32,8 of April 2010. In August the index had jumped by 13,1 points to 24,6.

This is what emerges from the table published on the website of the German institute for economic research. The Zew index relating to Italy has been improving since last March, after having also seen deeply negative levels, with the most recent minimum recorded in November 2011 at -58,7. The index relating to the current economic conditions for Italy was also up this month (+5,4 points), equal to -84,2 for the month of September.

The trend is similar to that found for Germany, where the Zew index rose to 49,6 in September from 42,0 in August, above the consensus reading of 46,0.
