Generali, Del Vecchio: "Greco said nonsense claiming that they wanted to kick him out"

The owner of Luxottica, who as a large shareholder of Generali had advocated the arrival of Greco helping to dethrone Perissinotto, criticizes the position taken by the outgoing CEO of the Leone for conflicts with shareholders: "There have never been conflicts and I would have avoided say the nonsense he said” – On the presidency: “Okay Galateri”.

Generali, Del Vecchio: "Greco said nonsense claiming that they wanted to kick him out"

Between the shareholders and the CEO Mario Greco "there have never been any conflicts, I can tell you this as I know the other shareholders very well". Thus Leonardo Del Vecchio, owner of Luxottica and important shareholder of Generali. On Greco's decision to leave il Leone to become CEO of Zurich, Del Vecchio notes that "if one leaves number two (of the Swiss group, ed) and comes to Italy from Generali and then returns as number one, I too would have done the same thing".

On the other hand, adds Del Vecchio when questioned in the center of Milan, “I must say that when one goes out it is clear that he declares what he wants. If I leave my wife, I'm not saying that my wife is the best woman in the world, I will say that she has some flaws. It is a choice of his that coincides – combination – with the fact that he was previously at Zurich. But – he adds – I wouldn't have said the silly things he said, like saying they wanted to kick him out. Because that's absolutely not true. He had a contract on the table for two months, if he wanted he would sign it ”.

Del Vecchio also intervened on the presidency of Leo, believing that a "strong" one is not needed: "The president in a company like Generali is important from the point of view of management, transparency and compliance with the law. Galateri is fine”.
