Generali: at the Barcolana the themes will be environment and gender

Come back on October 10th Barcolana, the historic regatta that takes place in Trieste and which has Generali as its main sponsor. The insurance group was keen to anticipate that the 53rd edition will be increasingly dedicated to environmental sustainability and the themes of Diversity & Inclusion. Themes that are summarized in the same motto of the next Barcolana: "The new routes".

Sailing, a sport that Generali has historically supported, will therefore be the sport used to talk about gender equality, addressing the theme of professions linked to the sea traditionally perceived as male. The issues of inclusion and the environment will be personally handled by Isabelle Joscke, an established sailor of international renown and athlete involved in social work with the Horizon Mixitè association (Orizzonte Diversity) and the "Generali Sea Talks", dialogues with two famous sailors, Dee Caffari and Vicky Song.

For Generali, the 2021 edition of the Barcolana is particularly important because it coincides with the 190th anniversary of its foundation. “The Barcolana regatta is a celebration of the sea and the extraordinary participation of sailors and enthusiasts is its symbol. Today more than ever, returning to the sea together, aware of the season we are experiencing and of how much everyone's commitment counts for the well-being and safety of the whole community, is a strong message to convey through the passion for sport, respect for the environment, solidarity, integration. For Generali, whose ambition is to be a Life Partner, is a commitment to its people and the communities in which it operates,” commented the chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola.
