Gas, Eni and Enel land in Siberia

For the first time in their history, Eni and Enel start producing in Russia. The new field (Samburskoye) is located in Western Siberia, in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. The first production of gas and liquids from the field, operated by Severenergia, a company in which the Italian groups hold respectively 30% and 19% stakes, will be 43.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

The field will reach its maximum capacity of 145.000 barrels in 2015, of which 43.000 net to Eni. The gas produced will be sold to Gazprom, while Eni will retain the right to repurchase and possibly market it on the Russian domestic market. The condensates, on the other hand, will be destined for foreign markets.

The development of the Samburskoye field represents the first of four start-ups envisaged in Russia in Eni's four-year plan, which will lead to production in Russia in 2019 of over 200.000 barrels per day. SeverEnergia is a joint venture which, in addition to Eni and Enel, also involves the Russian companies Novatek (25,5%) and Gazpromneft (25,5%).
