IMF, summary on the Italian banking system coming soon: "Positive indications"

The International Monetary Fund will publish a summary note on the mission held in Italy to verify the country's financial stability this afternoon at 18 pm, which expresses a "substantially positive" opinion on the Italian banking system.

This was reported by two sources familiar with the matter. "Basically, a positive opinion will be expressed on the Italian banking system", said a source, underlining that "these were not the premises". “He should also say that Italian banks have demonstrated their ability to withstand crises and point to the positive role played by the Bank of Italy,” another source said.

Some dissatisfaction should be expressed on "macro issues such as economic growth". The government itself recently cut its 2013 GDP estimates to -1,3% from -0,2%.
