Tax, Imu effect: revenue +3,8% in 11 months

The single municipal tax brought almost 10 billion into the state coffers with the June installment alone – VAT revenues decreased (-1,8%, equal to -1.818 million euros) – Direct taxes increased by 4,8, 9.446% (+XNUMX million euros).

The result went beyond the Treasury's expectations and it was the Imu that took the lion's share. In the first 11 months of 2012, Italian Treasury revenues grew by 3,8% year-on-year to €378.189 million (+13.770 million euros compared to the same period of 2011). For a like-for-like comparison, net of the one-off substitute tax on property leasing recorded in April 2011, tax revenues grew by 4,1% (+15.029 million euro).

A trend that can be explained by the new taxes imposed by the Monti government. Above all, of course, the single municipal tax, which brought almost 10 billion into the state coffers with the June installment alone. And the advance was without adjustment on municipal rates, therefore lower than the December balance, which proved to be much heavier. To find out how much, however, it will be necessary to wait a few more weeks.  

"Overall - explains the Treasury - in the face of the marked deterioration of the economic cycle, the dynamics of tax revenues confirms the trend towards higher growth rates compared to the same period last year due to the effect of the corrective measures launched starting from the second half of the 2011”.

In particular, the revenue due from the first installment of the IMU which was in line with forecasts, the substitute tax on withholdings, interest and other income of capital, the stamp duty and the manufacturing tax on mineral oils”.

Le direct taxes increased by 4,8% (+9.446 million euros): Ire +0,8% (+1.221 million euros), self-assessment +2,3% (+508 million), Ires +0,9% (+322 millions).

Le indirect taxes, on the other hand, showed an overall increase of 2,6% (+4.324 million). Net of the one-off substitute tax on property leasing, the increase in indirect taxes amounted to 3,4% (+5.583 million euro). Flexing VAT revenue (-1,8%, equal to -1.818 million euros).

The revenue produced by taxes on transactions has grown (+25,0%). Stamp duty increased, registering an increase of 106,7% (+3.061 million euros). Revenue from the consumption tax on methane gas decreased (-19,5%, equal to -832 million euros) due to the tax payment mechanism and the calculation of the adjustment on consumption for the previous year.

Revenue relating to games decreased overall by 6,3% (-798 million euros). Tax revenues deriving from assessment and control activities, ie the recovery of evasion, instead produced 6.433 million euros (+9,3%, equal to +545 million euros).
