Finmeccanica: it is negotiating with the Japanese Hitachi for the sale of AnsaldoBreda and Sts

The negotiation for the sale of the two railway companies in Piazza Monte Grappa to the Japanese group is relaunched – Hitachi's first offer was considered inadmissible – Finmeccanica needs one billion euros to reduce its debt.

Some Finmeccanica managers have flown to Japan in recent days in an attempt to relaunch negotiations with the Japanese group Hitachi for the sale of AnsaldoBreda and Ansaldo Sts, the two railway companies of Piazza Monte Grappa.
Finmeccanica has previously rejected an initial offer from Hitachi, judging the conditions posed by the Japanese for the purchase of AnsaldoBreda, a train and metro manufacturer that has been in crisis for some years and now in the midst of an expensive restructuring plan, inadmissible: In fact, Hitachi intended to close a plant, cutting personnel, and demanded that Finmeccanica remain responsible for existing contracts.

Despite this, the group still needs to dispose of civil assets to accumulate one billion euros which will serve to reduce debt.

In addition to the negotiations with Hitachi, for Finmeccanica, the the sale of Ansaldo Energia, for which the consortium FSI-Imprenditori Italiani has moved into pole position, which should acquire a share of around 30%, bringing into the holding's coffers a figure far lower than the 1,3 billion euros assumed for the Germans of Siemens.
