Fineco first in share trading and Banca Imi in bonds: Assosim report and rankings

The Financial Market Intermediaries Association ASSOSIM presented today the traditional analysis of the annual data relating to the transactions carried out by its Associates on the markets managed by BORSA ITALIANA SpA, EUROTLX, HI-MTF, EQUIDUCT and by some intermediaries in the role of Systematic Internalisers.

From the Shares ranking – elaborated by aggregating the volumes traded by the associated intermediaries on behalf of third parties on MTA and EQUIDUCT, as well as on any systematic internalisers managed – FINECOBANK is in first position, with a market share of 19,65%; second is BANCA IMI, with a share of 9,08%; IWBANK third, with a share of 8,77%. In the ranking by number of transactions (see page 4), FINECOBANK shows a market share of 17,56%; BANCA IMI of 11,17%; IWBANK by 6,71%.

From the Bonds ranking – elaborated by aggregating the volumes traded by the associated intermediaries on behalf of third parties on DomesticMOT, EuroMOT, ExtraMOT, Eurotlx and Hi MTF, as well as on the systematic internalisers managed by each of them if any – the first position of BANCA IMI is highlighted, with a market share of 19,95%; BANCA AKROS second, with a market share of 14,82%; ICCREA BANCA is third, with a market share of 10,43%. In the ranking by number of transactions (see page 6), BANCA IMI shows a market share of 24,35%; BANK AKROS of 13,70%; UNICREDIT BANK AG of 11,16%.

The total value of trades on the Borsa Italiana stock market, equal in absolute value to 629 billion euro, grew by 0,76% compared to the same period of 2016, while the number of contracts traded, equal to 70 million, decreased of 7,00%. The slow but constant reduction in the concentration of trading on the stock market managed by Borsa Italiana on FTSE MIB securities continues. Compared to last year, the percentage of trades on the main index stood at 87,70% from 91,30% in 2016.

On the MOT market, the countervalues ​​traded decreased by 5,23%: a total of 207 billion euro of countervalues ​​were traded, against approximately 3,5 million contracts.

On the ExtraMOT market, the countervalues ​​traded decreased by 25,84%: a total of around 2,5 billion euro of countervalues ​​were traded, against around 42 contracts.

On the EuroTLX market both the countervalues ​​traded on behalf of third parties decreased (-17,21%) and the number of transactions executed on behalf of third parties (-10,46%).

The contraction in volumes of systematic internalisation of listed and unlisted fixed-income securities continues compared to 2016. The internalised value decreased by 25,09%. It will be interesting, in the next reports, to monitor the trend of the systematic internalisation activity in the new MiFID II regime.

On the HI-MTF market, the value traded on behalf of third parties decreased by 43,34%, while the number of transactions executed on behalf of third parties decreased by 34,51%.

On the SeDeX market, countervalues ​​amounting to 19 billion were traded, down by 17,46%, with approximately 2,2 million contracts, down by 22,56% again compared to 2016.

The ETFplus market was down, where around 4,4 million contracts were concluded (-13,94% compared to the same period of 2016) for a value of around 98 billion euro (-9,35% compared to 2016 ).

Negative closing for the IDEM derivative financial instruments market: a total of 34 million contracts were traded (-30,34% compared to last year's closing). In detail: Index Futures
(-32,08%), Index MiniFutures (-36,53%), Index Option (-54,29%), Stock Futures (-28,05%), Stock Option
(-23,13%), Electricity Futures (-59,46%) and Wheat Futures (-75,80%). Single Stock Dividend Futures (+84,45%) bucked the trend.

From the rankings referring to the volumes traded on behalf of third parties in the various markets managed by BORSA ITALIANA SpA, we highlight the first position of: FINECOBANK on the MTA, with 13,32% of the market, on Futures on the Index, with 9,93% of the market, and on Mini Futures on Index, with 46,34% of the market; BANCA IMI on DomesticMOT, with 16,55% of the market, on EuroMOT, with 26,41% of the market, on ETFplus, with 11,50% of the market, and on Index Options, with 12,60 % of the market; BANCA AKROS on ExtraMOT, with 29,65% of the market, and on SeDeX, with 25,81% of the market; UBS LTD on Stock Options, with 6,45% of the market, and on Stock Futures, with 1,02% of the market.

From the ranking referring to the volumes traded on behalf of third parties on EuroTLX, the first position is highlighted by: BANCA IMI, with a market share of 25,55%, followed by UNICREDIT BANK AG, with a market share of 18,74%; third BANK AKROS, with a market share of 18,28%.

From the ranking referring to the volumes traded on behalf of third parties on HI-MTF, the first position is highlighted by: BANCA AKROS, with 25,22% of the market, followed by ICCREA BANCA, with a market share of 20,51%, and by NEXI, with a market share of 15,90%.

From the ranking of volumes traded on behalf of third parties on EQUIDUCT, the first position is highlighted by: BANCA ALETTI, with 86,92% of the market, followed by BANCA AKROS, with a market share of 10,64%, and by MERRILL LYNCH, with a market share of 2,44%.

From the rankings referring to the volumes traded on own account in the various markets managed by BORSA ITALIANA SpA, the first position of MORGAN STANLEY on the MTA, with 9,97% of the market, and on Options on the Index, with 6,01% is highlighted % of the market; BANCA SELLA HOLDING on DomesticMOT, with 15,15% of the market, on EuroMOT, with 26,31% of the market, on ExtraMOT, with 16,47% of the market, and on Mini Futures on Index, with 4,37, 28,81% of the market; UNICREDIT BANK AG on SeDeX, with 7,30% of the market; SOCIETE GENERALE on ETFPlus, with 1,67% of the market; DEUTSCHE BANK AG on Index Futures, with 7,73% of the market; INTERMONTE SIM on Stock Options, with 4,55% of the market; BANCA IMI on Stock Futures, with XNUMX% of the market.
