Eurozone: manufacturing at 18-month lows

However, according to Markit economists, in the light of Brexit and the attack in France "the eurozone economy has shown a surprising recovery".

Eurozone: manufacturing at 18-month lows

The Eurozone manufacturing PMI index calculated by Markit in July slows according to the preliminary estimate to 51,9, below analysts' expectations who predicted a score of 52,1. In June the index was equal to 52,8. Growth in the eurozone, comments Markit, is bordering on the minimum value for a year and a half.

The preliminary PMI services index is indicated in July at 52,7 from 53,8 in June, the lowest value for 18 months. For Markit economist Chris Williamson, however, "considering the referendum that decided the United Kingdom's exit from the EU and the further terrorist attack in France, the eurozone economy has shown a surprising recovery".
