Eni-Snam: contract for new methane distributors

Eni and Snam have signed the first contract for the development of methane refueling stations in Italy. The operation is the result of a framework agreement signed last May.

In a joint note, the two companies explain that the twenty-year contract "aimed at the design, construction and maintenance by Snam of a first lot of 14 new compressed natural gas (CNG) plants within of the national network of Eni distributors, favoring the supply of low-emission alternative fuels such as natural gas”.

Snam will receive from Eni a consideration estimated in a range between 20 and 40 million euros.

The contract, continues the note, "is part of Snam's initiatives aimed at sector operators to promote sustainable mobility, with an investment of 150 million to build up to 300 new CNG and L-CNG (liquefied-compressed natural gas) distributors ), in order to support the development of natural gas supply plants and their more balanced diffusion in the various regions of the country, also improving the quality of the service supplied to users".

Eni "intends with this initiative to further strengthen its offer for sustainable mobility: out of a network of 4.400 plants, 3.500 supply Eni Diesel+, the premium diesel with 15% renewable component produced from vegetable oils at the biorefinery in Venice through the proprietary, while around 1.000 plants supply LPG and methane (of which 2 LNG and 180 CNG)".
