The Eni refinery in Gela must stop, at least temporarily. The Italian oil giant communicated this to the unions today, explaining that the stoppage is necessary to reduce the negative impact on the accounts caused by the activity of the Sicilian refinery.
The shutdown, explains the company, will be partial and will concern the production cycles with lower profitability, intended for the refining of foreign and residual crudes, while the processing of domestic crudes will be maintained.
La duration of the stop will be 12 months: the plants will be restarted in April 2013. And the workers? The employees affected by this provision will not be all, but around 500. The company confirmed the application of the guarantees envisaged in the agreement for development, competitiveness and industrial relations.
