Eni at OMC 2023, new strategies for the energy transition: from 24 to 26 October in Ravenna

A “just transition”: it is the slogan of the next one WTO Med Energy Conference, the main Mediterranean energy event to be held in Ravenna da Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th October 2023 and which this year celebrates its thirtieth anniversary. As in past editions, Eni is among the protagonists of what has become the main center of discussion on energy in the Mediterranean area, with institutional meetings, networking opportunities and debates, with constant attention to the complex and delicate global context we are experiencing. Not only that, this new edition promises a lot news and a particular focus on initiatives dedicated to future generations, such as Innovation room and the project "Now! Outpost Ravenna for Energy Transition”, a technological innovation platform on the themes of the blue and green economy to support local businesses promoted by Joule, Eni's school for business together with the Municipality of Ravenna and the technical partner Mind the Bridge.

Therefore, the 2023 edition of OMC will be an opportunity to reflect on how the world has changed, not only in the energetic. In addition to the traditional themes of the sector - energy transition, decarbonisation strategies and energy security - this year's edition presents topics such as the circular economy, the role of technologies, the paths towards carbon neutrality, also involving young generations in the dialogue on transition and innovation.

Eni at OMC 2023

The international event will be an opportunity for Eni to talk about its path towards neutrality carbonic where energy security, sustainability and economic accessibility to energy remain essential objectives even in the current context of geographical and technological diversification of energy sources.

There are several thematic areas valorised in the Eni stand through installations, videos, talks and presentations to the public: from the development of technologies related to the capture, storage and use of CO₂ (CCUS), fundamental for the decarbonisation of processes, to biofuels which will increasingly be produced from residues and waste biogenic and from raw materials (agri-feedstock) grown on degraded, semi-arid or abandoned land that cannot be used for food production.

Also at the center of the debate is sustainable mobility, for its ability to contribute to achieving the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 and prospectively provide Eni customers with a variety of decarbonized products and services. Attributable toThe circular economy instead, there are various chemical initiatives, from which Eni obtains new materials and, with a view to complementarity, products from alternative raw materials, materials deriving from the recycling of plastic materials and from renewable sources of plant origin, in addition to activities for the valorisation of industrial land , water and waste through efficient and sustainable remediation and recovery projects.

Focus on young people

During the event, therefore, great attention will be paid to young, important protagonists of the reinvention that the energy industry will have to carry out to achieve the ambitious European objectives. Innovation Room, the initiative created with the support of Accenture, is an area where high school students, universities, research centres, start-ups and experts will be able to discuss each other and, together with companies, develop ideas, transform them into projects and create solutions for the energy challenges of the future. To make the activities linked to this area even more stimulating, the story of the project will be featured on the afternoon of Tuesday 24th "Now! Outpost Ravenna for Energy Transition”: a technological innovation platform on the themes of the blue and green economy to support local businesses. The initiative is promoted by Joule, Eni's school for business together with the Municipality of Ravenna and the technical partner Mind the Bridge. WTO and NOW! they scouted the best start-ups working on energy transition solutions and technologies. The selected ideas will have a presentation space and the possibility of having 1 to 1 meetings with the main operators interested in developing them. The best ones will be rewarded at the end of the day.
