In September 2013, the electricity required in Italy, equal to 26,1 billion kWh, recorded a down 2,6% compared to September last year. Adjusted for the calendar effect, the change in electricity demand in September 2013 however becomes -3,2%. Compared to September of the previous year, in fact, with an almost unchanged average monthly temperature, there was one more working day (21 vs 20).

Of the 26,1 billion kWh required in September 2013, 45,6% is distributed in the North, 29,6% in the Center and 24,8% in the South. At the territorial level, the change in demand of electricity in September 2013 was negative everywhere: -2,5% in the North, -2,0% in the Center and -3,3% in the South. In September 2013 89,1% of the demand for electricity was met with domestic production and the remainder (10,9%) with the balance of electricity exchanged with foreign countries. In detail, net national production (23,3 billion kWh) fell by 2,1% compared to September 2012. The sources of photovoltaic (+27,2%) and wind (+11,1) production are still growing strongly ,0,9%); geothermal (+0,6%) and water (+6,2%) production also grew. The thermoelectric source is down (-XNUMX%).

In quarterly terms, the seasonally adjusted variation of electricity demand in September 2013 compared to the previous month was down by 2,2%. The trend profile returns to a stationary trend. In the first nine months of 2013, the demand for electricity decreased by 3,7% compared to the corresponding period of 2012; with the same calendar, the value is -3,4%.
