Enel bucking the trend after plant start-up in Colombia

Enel in contrast to the trend in Piazza Affari following the announcement of the start of production of the El Quimbo hydroelectric plant in Colombia. The shares of the electricity group rise by 0,6% to 4,046 euros, with a maximum reached at 4,058 euros, when the Ftse Mib loses 0,63%. The news also benefits the subsidiary Enel Green Power.

Yesterday evening with the Stock Market closed, the company announced the completion of the work, which began in 2010 with a investment of 1,2 billion dollarsand the start of production. “El Quimbo already has a number of firsts. It is the most impressive engineering work carried out by the Enel group in the last six years, it represents one of the largest hydroelectric investments made by Enel in South America and it is also the first privately owned plant built in Colombia”, commented the CEO of Enel Francesco Starace, underlining that "this work further strengthens the presence of the group in the region, which sees us engaged with significant investments in all sectors of our value chain in the coming years".

Equity this is positive news for Enel, underlining that the works were completed ahead of analysts' expectations, who expected the start in 2016 and not this year.
