Enel and Confagricoltura together for renewable energy

Confagricoltura and Enel signed a framework agreement in Taormina for the joint development of renewable energies and energy efficiency: the deal was signed in Taormina by the president of Confagricoltura, Mario Guidi and by the managing director of Enel, Fulvio Conti, during the Farmers' Organization Economic Forum.

The agreement is the result of a collaboration between Confagricoltura and Enel born a few years ago and from the desire to support the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, on the one hand, and to guarantee excellence in the field of energy efficiency, on the other.

“The agreement – added Fulvio Conti – strengthens the collaboration between Enel and Confagricoltura in the name of efficiency and the promotion of environmentally friendly technologies. Enel, with its expertise and experience, will provide important support in overcoming the challenge of the future of sustainable agricultural enterprises, thus contributing to the competitiveness and development of our country".

"Agro-energy – declared Mario Guidi – is a fundamental economic activity, capable of producing income and employment, but also play an important role in environmental terms and in maintaining the agricultural fabric in the area. Furthermore, to the extent that the supply chains are fed by national agricultural raw materials, they can increase the country's degree of energy self-provision".

Confagricoltura and Enel will develop synergies on the subject of the most suitable renewable energies for the agricultural sector. Enel will offer companies technical and commercial support, favoring the correct choice of plants from renewable sources based on the specific territorial characteristics. The opportunities linked to photovoltaic, small wind, biogas and biomass will then be evaluated, with support for the activities of connecting the plants to the network.

Confagricoltura and Enel will collaborate in addition to the valorisation of agricultural by-products, the recovery of uncultivated land for agro-energy purposes, pilot projects on the issues of energy efficiency, Smart Grids and electric mobility for the transport of people and goods in agricultural areas.

Within two months of the framework agreement, an "Energy Table" will be set up which will work on the operational protocols, analyze the specific situations and identify any supportive administrative measures to facilitate their implementation. A "Quality Desk" will also be set up for a constant connection between farms and the service provided by Enel.
