Enel starts the largest solar plant in Chile

It's called Finis Terrae, it's 1.300 km from Santiago and has an installed capacity of 160 MW, capable of generating more than 400 GWh a year, equal to the annual consumption of around 198 Chilean families.

Enel, through its subsidiary Enel Green Power Chile, has completed and connected to the grid Finis Terrae, the largest solar plant of the group in Chile. Finis Terrae is located in the municipality of María Elena in the Antofagasta region, about 1.300 km north of the capital Santiago, has an installed capacity of 160 MW and is capable of generating more than 400 GWh a year, equal to the annual consumption of around 198 Chilean families, avoiding the emission of more than 198 tons of CO2 a year.

To build the plant, Enel invested around 270 million US dollars, in line with the provisions of the Group's Strategic Plan and entirely covered by its own resources. Finis Terrae has a long-term supply contract (PPA) and the energy produced will be transmitted to the grid of the northern region of Chile (Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande).

Enel, through its subsidiary, currently manages a portfolio of plants in Chile with a total installed capacity of over 880 MW, of which 364 MW from wind, 430 MW from solar PV and 92 MW from hydro. Furthermore. Enel Green Power Chile has 300 MW of projects underway which, once completed, will bring the country's total installed capacity to approximately 1.200 MW. Among these projects, Cerro Pabellón which will have a gross installed capacity of 48 MW and will be the first geothermal plant in South America.
