Enav looks to the post-Covid era and focuses on innovation

Enav celebrates its first forty years of existence. The company that controls and guarantees the safety of civil flights over Italian skies is today a group open to the global market with approximately 4.200 employees. And it exports technology and know-how all over the world, dealing with new flight technologies such as that of drones. The group, now listed, was born as an independent company in 1981 when the president Sandro Pertini signed decree number 145, which sanctioned the definitive detachment from the Air Force.

Since then many things have changed and many miles have been traveled in the skies. In the last year and a half, the pandemic has seriously affected the world economy and, in particular, the air traffic sector. It is precisely from here, underlined the Minister for Infrastructure Enrico Giovanni, that it will be necessary to start again. "The great challenge that awaits the aviation sector - he underlined during a conference on the company's fortieth anniversary - hard hit by the pandemic crisis, is to keep up with technological evolution, accelerate the ecological transition and offer increasingly more innovative, anticipating market needs. The Recovery and Resilience Plan, with its drive towards ever greater digitalisation, will contribute to equipping the country with a flight management system capable of meeting the new challenges. With investments of 110 million euros, the PNRR projects go precisely in the direction of making services ever more competitive while reducing climate-changing emissions".

Paolo Simioni, CEO of the Enav group, underlined that the group today “is first in Europe for safety and punctuality, present with its technology in over 100 countries around the world. A constantly forward-looking company whose technological development and people's skills are two fundamental pillars for the sustainable evolution of the airspace as a strategic resource of the Italian economy. ENAV now operates in an ecosystem interconnected with national and international partners and authorities, covering not only an operational but a proactive role in the processes of change that see us at the forefront of the development of satellite platforms and drone management".

Together with the CEO, the president Francesca Isgrò wanted to thank all the employees “not only for what they have done or are doing now but above all for what they will do to improve the life of the community and support the evolution of our country. ENAV is a strong and innovative company also thanks to the constant synergy and collaboration with our institutional and industrial stakeholders".
