Emilia Romagna: agreement between Hera, companies and the Region for the development of renewable energy communities

Clean and renewable energy as a pivot in the fight against climate change.

This is the core of the Memorandum of Understanding signed today by Emilia Romagna region with Hera Group, Iren Smart Solutions Spa, CNAER e Confartigianato Imprese ER to promote it development of energy communities renewable (CER).

The objective of the agreement is to put the small and medium enterprises with multiutilities, so they can have all the tools they need to start green investments. A way to spread the use of renewable energy throughout the territory.

At the initials, today in the Region, they were present Vincent Colla, Councilor for Economic Development and Green Economy, Horace Iacono, Chief Executive Officer of the Hera Group, Roberto Conte, managing director of Iren Smart Solutions and I.Blu Srl, Paul Cavini, president of CNA Emilia-Romagna, e Davide Servadei, president of the Emilia-Romagna Confartigianato.

Emilia Romagna thus confirms its ambitious objectives contained in Pact for Work and the Climate, as well as in the Regional energy plan 2030 and relative Three-year implementation plan 2022-2024.

Three-year protocol

It is within the framework of regional law 5/2022 on energy that the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Region with the actors of the territory is inserted.

The purpose of the Protocol, which it will have three-year duration, is to start a collaboration between the parties, each within the sphere of its own competences, to derive a mutual advantage from the implementation of joint study, research and planning actions, with particular attention to the energy sector. We will try to improve, in synergy, the respective competencies to define useful aid tools for the Region to promote the diffusion of CERs and implement "pilot" interventions that can be replicated on the territory.

Promotion and support for the dissemination of renewable energy communities

“This Protocol goes exactly in the direction indicated by the policies of promotion and support for the dissemination of renewable energy communities. Policies launched by the Region as early as last year, and which are now beginning to reap the first fruits. Therefore, it is essential that companies are networked with our multiutilities, so that they have all the useful tools to be able to start green investments. Our commitment is achieve goals that we have given ourselves in the Pact for Work and the Climate: we must accelerate the energy transition of the entire regional ecosystem. To do this, we have to involve all local stakeholders, starting with our craft businesses,” he explained Vincent Colla, Councilor for Economic Development and Green Economy of the Region.

“We are pleased to participate in this memorandum of understanding which brings together the skills and experience of important players in the area, with the aim of developing energy communities. Our membership falls within the broadest strategy of the Hera Group as also described in Industrial plan to 2026, which already includes concrete initiatives in the field of renewable energy, from the installation of photovoltaic systems to the production of biomethane and hydrogen. Precisely in Bologna, in via Usodimare, through our subsidiary Hera Comm, we helped make the first citizen example of shared energy: a simple form of energy community through which families can self-produce renewable energy, reaping economic and environmental benefits” he declared Horace Iacono, Chief Executive Officer of Hera Group.
