Friuli Venezia Giulia elections: Fedriga wins hands down, centre-left under 30% and third pole under the barrier

It will be Fedriga Bis. This is the result of the regional elections in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The outgoing governor of the League, Massimiliano Fedriga, also supported by the other two centre-right parties (Fratelli d'Italia and Forza Italia), won with over 64,1% of the votes. The rival Massimo Moretuzzo, supported by the centre-left, i.e. by the Pd, the Left Green Alliance and the 5 Star Movement, instead stopped at 28,51%. The other two contenders for the presidency of the Region follow, very distant: the no-vax candidate Georgia Tripoli of Together free is 4,67% e Alexander Maran of the third pole is stationary at 2,72 per cent. The latter therefore did not exceed the threshold of 4%.

The results on the regional lists also arrived, with the League confirming its first party in Friuli Venezia Giulia with 18,98% but losing 16% of the votes compared to the last regional ones in 2018. The Fedriga list, on the other hand, earns more than '11% to 17,5%. Fdi is close to the record and reaches 18,18% (+12%), while the Democratic Party, which instead loses a point and drops to 16,7%. Forza Italia drops by more than 5 points to 6,68%, the Moretuzzo list stops at 6,31. Followed by: list Action-IV-Plus Europe 2,76%, M5s 2,46% (-4,6%),

As for participation, theturnout is 45,3%, almost four and a half points less than in 2018 (49,7%) when, however, the vote was taken in a single day.

“I dedicate the victory to my wife, for what she went through in the electoral campaign for the family. Then I dedicate it to all the people who gave me a hand and then to my father, who passed away in 2021” celebrates Fedriga.

“The result is clear. We knew it was a complicated match, we tried hard. I called Fedriga, I congratulated him and my good luck for the journey ", he made it known Massimo Moretuzzo the centre-left candidate, M5S and Avs.

“Congratulations to Massimiliano Fedriga, reconfirmed president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. He has worked very well in recent years, together with the whole coalition, and I am sure he will continue to do so. A victory that rewards the administrative model and the good governance of the centre-right and which spurs us to do better and better”. said the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

“And after the victories at the beginning of 2023 in Lombardy and Lazio, today comes the third! Thank you Friuli Venezia Giulia”. Thus the Northern League secretary Matteo Salvini on social media.

“Congratulations to Fedriga, who clearly won in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. We thank Moretuzzo and all the coalition that supported him for their commitment. Together we will reorganize an opposition centered on political proposals. With patience, but with determination,” he said in a statement las secretary of the Pd Elly Schlein.

“A disappointing result for us: unfortunately it doesn't differ from that of the other Regionals. Regional elections, for a center party, are the worst that can happen because people tend to vote for one side or the other. This is a big problem for Italy,” said the leader of Action Carlo Calenda on the sidelines of an electoral event in Treviso, commenting on the result in Friuli Venezia Giulia. “Fedriga was good at getting the vote of the moderate elector and bringing the result to a very high figure, congratulations to him – he adds -. I am sorry for our candidate Alessandro Maran, who is a person of the highest quality and also a great connoisseur of Europe and the world and this is very important for the Italian border regions. Maran campaigned in a month in very difficult elections, but all my respect goes to him".

“I express my warmest congratulations to President Massimiliano Fedriga for his reconfirmation at the helm of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. After the victory in the political elections and the one in the regional elections of Lombardy and Lazio, the good governance of the center-right is once again confirmed as a winner. So: full speed ahead”. This is what the president of Forza Italia wrote on social media Silvio Berlusconi.
