The guidelines of the reorganization plan of Selex ES, the subsidiary of Finmeccanica which operates in defense electronics with a total of 18 employees divided between the Italian and British plants, will be at the center of tomorrow's meeting of the board of directors of Finmeccanica itself.
After the turning point made in the governance and transparency of the group, the new number one of Finmeccanica, Alessandro Pansa, intends to focus the activity of the board also on the industrial problems of the major companies. For this reason Fabrizio Giustanini, the CEO of Selex Es, which is the result of the unification of three units started at the beginning of the year, will illustrate the aims and methods of the reorganisation.
The problem of Selex Es is to recover efficiency both through cuts agreed with the unions and through a competitive repositioning. For now, in order to rationalize the activities and make them more profitable, 650 redundancies and the cutting of 120 executives have been envisaged, but it is not excluded that in the future some more sacrifices will be required of the production units located in the United Kingdom.
Reducing production costs is, moreover, an obligatory way for the relaunch of Selex Es but Finmeccanica intends to move with determination but in the search for the greatest possible social consensus.
