Egypt, the ultimatum to Morsi is about to expire. Army: 'We will die for the people'

The Army's ultimatum to Mohammed Morsi is about to expire and Egypt risks slipping into civil war. In truth, the President has already rejected the requests of the military, who want to force his resignation in the wake of the popular protests that have been agitating the country for days.

It appears that the Egyptian military has taken control of the state television headquarters in Cairo. According to reports from the BBC, non-essential staff of the broadcaster would have been ordered to leave the building. When the ultimatum has officially expired, the military should issue a statement. Talks are underway between the commander in chief, Defense Minister al-Sissi and political and religious figures.

The Egyptian military is "ready to die" to defend the people against "terrorists" and extremists, General Abdel Fattah al Sissi said today, in a comment left on the Facebook page of the Supreme Council of the armed forces.

“The general commander of the armed forces has indicated that it is more honorable for us to die than to see the Egyptian people terrorized and threatened – wrote the senior Egyptian officer -. We swear before God that we will sacrifice our blood for Egypt and her people, against all terrorists, extremists and the ignorant."
