Edison, Tarantini: no Italian consortium

Edison, Tarantini: no Italian consortium

“If there are other hypotheses, we will evaluate them. I'm not here today. No other proposals arrived on our table”. These are the words of Graziano Tarantini, chairman of the CdS of A2A, regarding Edison's restructuring plan. In particular, Tarantini denies (at least for the moment) the possibility of forming an Italian consortium to take over Edipower.

"This hypothesis is completely new to me, I don't know at all", commented Roberto Bazzano, president of Iren. Even the number one of A2A, Giuliano Zuccoli, denied the news, reiterating that what is being worked on is still the draft agreement drawn up in March, moreover "improveable". In essence, the green light was envisaged for Edf on Edison in exchange for the division among the Italian shareholders of some hydroelectric plants controlled by Edipower.

“We have the utmost respect for the government's wishes – concluded Tarantini -, but we have remained firm on that March hypothesis which we believe to be the most appropriate and most convenient for us. If other hypotheses arrive we will evaluate them, but personally I see them as difficult. Looking ahead, I would say that in the medium-long term some doubts could also arise about the agreements reached in March, but today we are forced to think about the short term".
