Edison: net loss of 9 million in the 231 months

Revenues fell instead by 6,9%, to 8,3 billion, while the gross operating margin fell to 272 million (from 652 million) and the operating result was negative by 157 million, against the +387 million of the first nine months of last year.

Edison: net loss of 9 million in the 231 months

Edison closed the first nine months of the year and with a net loss of 231 million euros, against the profit of 177 million achieved in the same period of 2014. The energy company announced this morning, specifying that the result was affected by the declaration of unconstitutionality of the Robin Hood Tax, whose non-recurring negative impact is amounted to 68 million, only partially mitigated by the reduction in the tax rate. 

I revenues instead they fell by 6,9%, to 8,3 billion, while the gross operating margin dropped to 272 million (from 652 million) and the Operating income it was negative by 157 million, against +387 million in the first nine months of last year. At the end of September net financial debt had fallen to 1,71 billion, from 1,76 billion at the end of 2014. 

As for the estimates for the whole of 2015, Edison confirms that it forecasts a gross operating margin of one billion, a value that includes the expected impact of the arbitration for the gas procurement contract from Libya.

"Taking into account the deterioration of the Italian energy market we are witnessing and the current prices of Brent - reads the note from the group - the 2016 EBITDA, on a like-for-like basis and without considering non-recurring items, could suffer a negative impact compared to 2015".

The decline in revenues is attributable to electricity supply chain, which decreased to 4,99 billion, from 5,7 billion in the same period of 2014, as a result of lower volumes sold and decreasing average electricity prices. However, revenues increased hydrocarbon supply chain, which amounted to 3,87 billion (+5,8% compared to the same fraction in 2014). 

Just in third quarter Edison recorded revenues down 6,8% to 2,72 billion, and a gross operating margin of 68 million (compared to 229 million in the third quarter of 2014). The operating result was negative by 2 million (against +63 million), while the net loss amounted to 16 million, against the profit of 69 million in the same period last year.
