E.On Italia splits in two in view of the sale

The share of E.On, which leads in Piazza Affari, is racing, advancing by more than 4% at the end of the morning, in contrast with the strongly negative trend of the Italian stock exchange.

The acceleration in the shares of the energy company stems from the decision of the German parent company to split in two and to sell Macquarie assets in Spain and Portugal for 2,5 billion euros. In fact, the group has decided to focus on renewables, distribution networks and customer solutions. The Italian branch could also be sold, probably to Edison.

The board of directors agreed to pay a fixed dividend of €0,5 per share in the financial years 2014 and 2015, to evaluate the divestment of the assets in Italy and to place the North Sea exploration and production business under strategic review.
