Dns-Changer, the virus that could kill your computer on Monday the 9th

On Monday 9 July we will say goodbye to the virus that has traveled around the world. And with him to 275 thousand computers. DNS-Changer is a program that modifies the network settings of connected PCs or routers. The virus changes the settings of the DNS (Domain Name Servers), the domain name servers that allow correct navigation by transforming the names of the websites into IP addresses. In this way, every time the name of an Internet site is typed, the DNS Changer virus transforms that name, referring to pages of a manipulated website. The problem is that the user doesn't realize it because it displays a page that is identical in appearance to the original one. Yet in this way, through the channel of advertising, the authors of the virus have raised about 14 million dollars.

In November 2011, theFBI arrested the perpetrators of the DNS-Changer: six Estonian boys, IT virtuosos. But the problems continued on the network: all infected computers continue to connect to the web through a corrupted DNS. Because of this Monday 9 July the FBI will make a decision as resolute as it is tragic: will disable all infected computers and these will no longer be able to navigate. It is the only way to exterminate this virus which otherwise risks continuing to regenerate. According to FBI estimates, today there are about 275 infected computers worldwide.
