Crisis: Ubi Banca closes 84 branches and mini branches

The Ubi group feels the crisis and reorganizes itself. In fact, the bank has just rewritten its 2011-2015 business plan, announcing through a note sent to the unions the closure of 84 branches and mini branches and the "redevelopment" of another 38 commercial outlets.

The numbers are well above those estimated in the presentation of the plan dated 16 May 2011, which envisaged substantial stability of the branch network with the opening of 50 branches in development areas and rationalization interventions of 60 branches (40 closures and 20 redevelopments) in the consolidated territories. This prevented reaching an agreement with the internal unions: Ubi Banca will therefore proceed unilaterally.

The new program therefore provides for 84 closures, which will affect 36 branches and 48 mini-branches. The network bank most affected will be Carime, which will lose a branch and 23 mini branches, followed by Banco di Brescia (16 branches and 7 mini branches will be closed). There will be 14 closures in the Popolare di Ancona network (in addition to 11 "dequalification" from branch to mini-branch), 10 in that of Commerce and Industry (which, however, will have to pay for 20 "degradation" interventions from branch to mini-branch), five at of the European Regional Bank (with seven changes from branch to mini branch), four for Banco di San Giorgio, three for Popolare di Bergamo and the Florence office of Ubi Banca Private Investment will be closed.
