Court of Auditors: too many taxes, we risk being trapped in the recession

The sharp increase in the tax burden triggers "recessionary impulses" for the real economy, with the risk of a "twisting" in which one could remain "trapped". She is convinced of it Court of Auditors, who presented the 2012 report on public finance coordination to the Chamber today.

"The danger of a spin must be carefully monitored, defusing the vicious circle in which one could become trapped“, claims the accounting judiciary. 2011 “has given us the reality of a tax system that is still distant from the European model, marked by the coexistence of a high tax burden and a very high tax evasion rate”.

According to the Court of Auditors "it is necessary to influence the factors blocking growth, in order to recover the missing revenue, but only thanks to greater increases in GDP".

The president Luigi Giampaolino believes that "the process aimed at achieving a significant reduction of the debt through the disposal of important shares of the movable and real estate assets in public hands should be resumed with greater continuity and conviction".

Giampaolino recalls that “on recent occasions for confrontation with the parliament, the Court has repeatedly underlined the urgency of operational solutions on one front, such as that of divestments, hitherto lacking in identifying dimensions, conditions and construction responsibilities”.

Last year, “the contradictions that accompany the implementation of the budgetary policy exploded – Giampaolino said -. On the one hand, the effectiveness of the cost containment measures, which in fact prove to be more stringent than what appears to be perceived by national and, above all, international public opinion. On the other, a feeble growth dynamic, which makes it difficult to achieve better results than those actually achieved. Tax revenue remained below forecasts, penalized by the lack of recovery of the economy. A phenomenon destined to continue for some years”.

From the president of the coordination of the sections gathered for control, Luigi Mazzillo, then comes a precise accusation: in the health sector they are highlighted "frequent episodes of corruption to the detriment of the community".
