Corriere della Sera, the new director is Luciano Fontana

Fontana, born in 1959, already co-director is the internal candidate of the Corriere destined to succeed Ferruccio De Bortoli – The choice has therefore brought agreement on almost all the shareholders and directors (including Diego Della Valle) and is certainly well received by the journalistic editorial staff – It remains to be seen whether the editorial line will remain anti-Renzi or not

the board of directors of RCS has already chosen the successor of Ferruccio De Bortoli, assigning the editorship of Corriere della Sera to Luciano Fontana, up to now co-editor of the newspaper in via Solferino. The choice has therefore made almost all the shareholders and directors agree (including Diego Della Valle) and is certainly well received by the journalistic editorial staff - in the name of management continuity

Fontana, born in 1959, was the candidate supported by De Bortoli himself. His designation will be made official in the next few hours on the CDR of the newspaper. The of him indeed comes considered more a figure of the ferryman of the newspaper, with a view to identifying a long-term director in a few years. But it doesn't necessarily turn out that way because Fontana has an undisputed professional personality and it will be up to him to make it count.

It will be interesting to understand what the editorial line will be and in particular whether the new Corriere will continue in its anti-Renzi approach, which De Bortoli expressed once again in his leave this morning, or will hold a truly independent and politically balanced line.

The board of directors, still underway, as well as setting up the internal committees after the recent renewal of the board, should also launch a 30 million euro cost-cutting plan. The company has forecast a cost cut of 56 million for this year, but another 30 million could be added to this figure. Meanwhile in Piazza Affari the Rcs title it rose by 1,07% to 1,232 euros, the highs of the day.
