Current accounts: changing is now easier, but Italians remain stationary

Bureaucracy has been reduced and the new rules on portability provide that the transfer must take place within 12 working days, but the mobility rate of Italian current account holders remains very low – The average cost of a current account is now 100 euros for traditional banks , while online banks stop at 15,7 euros.

Current accounts: changing is now easier, but Italians remain stationary

Change is now easier, but sometimes the law is not enough. Since last June 25 it has been possible to transfer your current account from one bank to another following a simplified procedure: the bureaucracy has been reduced and the new rules on portability provide that the transfer must take place within 12 working days, otherwise the indemnity will be triggered for the account holder.

Despite these innovations, according to a recent survey by the Competition and Market Authority, the mobility rate of Italian current account holders remains very low, at just 12%.

Still, moving would be an affordable option for many. Suffice it to say that from the Isc, the synthetic cost indicator that is sent to us at the end of the year at home, it emerges that the average cost of a current account is today 100 euros for traditional banks, calculated on the average transactions of a family, while online banks stop at 15,7 euros.
