Confcommercio: unauthorized use and counterfeiting cost 17,2 billion each year

Illegal acts and counterfeiting cost the retail trade sector 17,2 billion euros in turnover every year, while bars and restaurants are seen deducted from a total of 17,2 billion. The bill is presented by a research conducted by the Confcommercio research office, and presented today as part of the national day "Legality, I like it", which specifies that the loss in terms of taxes and contributions is 1,5 billion the year.

Looking at the numbers in detail, illegal business (fixed and itinerant premises) causes losses for 4,9% of regular turnover, equal to 8,8 billion, equal to 4,9%, while illegal tourism (bar and catering) costs 5,2 billion, for a share of more than 10% of the sector's turnover. The cost of counterfeiting instead stands at 3,3 billion.

Confcommercio, considering an average turnover for regular business of 202 euros, estimated that, due to illegality, 43 regular shops risk disappearing every year, taking at least 79 workers with them. in tourism, over 27 businesses are at risk and 106 workers. The turnover of counterfeit products this year amounts to around 6,5 billion euros.
