The collaboration between the Sant'Agata Bolognese-based company and the Hera Group for the global, integrated, and sustainable management of industrial waste takes shape through seven Super Robots over four meters tall, built using production waste from Lamborghini super sports cars.
On display at Ecomondo 2025 at the stands of the Hera Group and its subsidiaries (Hall C1 – Stands 500 and 501) and at the fair's South entrance, the environmental protection Super Robots—created by the multi-utility through its SCART project, which has been transforming waste into works of art for nearly thirty years—represent the symbolic language chosen to present a shared vision of advanced global waste management services.
Focus on innovative recovery projects to transform waste into value
The agreement entrusts Herambiente (a Hera Group company and Italy's leading waste management operator in terms of plant equipment and volumes treated) with the management of the entire special waste cycle from the Lamborghini plant in Sant'Agata Bolognese until 2028: approximately 3.500 tons annually, with a material recovery rate of 80% by 2024 and subject to further increase. The contract, renewed for the three-year period 2025-2028 after an initial award in 2022, aims to minimize disposal and recycle waste according to efficient criteria, ensuring traceability and safety. A particularly important aspect of the global waste management agreement concerns regulatory compliance, managed on a turnkey basis by Herambiente (including the new RENTRI system, the National Electronic Register for Waste Traceability). The agreement also includes the classification and safe disposal of obsolete waste, the certified destruction of prototypes and components, the demolition of no longer usable assets, and the reuse of pallets in lithium battery crates. Optimizing loading and transportation will have a positive impact both economically and on atmospheric emissions.
Circularity and Net Zero: the commitment of Automobili Lamborghini and the Hera Group
The collaboration with Herambiente is part of Automobili Lamborghini's structured ESG journey, which already saw the Sant'Agata Bolognese plant achieve carbon neutrality certification in 2015, a feat it has maintained over the years despite doubling its production area. This achievement is the fruit of an integrated strategy combining direct emissions reduction, offsetting projects, and investments in energy efficiency. The agreement with the Hera Group reinforces this commitment: on the one hand, it ensures specialized waste management aimed at maximizing resource utilization, and on the other, it contributes to the reduction of indirect emissions related to logistics and treatment. In 2024, waste recovery at Automobili Lamborghini increased by 15%, exceeding 80% of total volumes. The Hera Group is a fully aligned partner on this front: the multi-utility company aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050, with an overall reduction in climate-altering emissions of 90% compared to 2019. The joint project strands—comprehensive waste management, resource regeneration, and the SCART artistic project—demonstrate a shared vision between the two groups, in which the circular economy is a technical, environmental, and cultural lever.
