Pierre Moscovici is the new head of economic affairs, taxation and customs of the EU commission. As widely expected, therefore, it will be the former socialist French finance minister who will take charge of budgetary policies: his task will be to ensure that fiscal and customs policies become part of a more complete economic and monetary union.
The Finn Yjrki Katainen, on the other hand, has been appointed as one of the vice-presidents for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness and will coordinate the work of the various commissioners.
