Ecomafie Commission and Unioncamere: agreement on waste

The bicameral commission of inquiry and Unioncamere have signed an agreement aimed at preventing and avoiding illegal phenomena in the waste sector.

Through this agreement, the Commission will have the possibility to consult the environmental databases and those of the Chambers of Commerce. Specifically, the Commission will have access to the MUD database, which contains data on the quantity of waste produced, transported and managed by companies, and to the National Register of Environmental Managers which brings together all the companies registered in the Register because they operate in the management of waste. The Commission will also have access to the free search area of other environmental registers and the Business Register.

"Consultation of the databases - underlines Unioncamere - will always take place according to confidentiality criteria and will be closely linked to the investigations approved by the Commission".

The bicameral inquiry commission and Unioncamere will also be able to collaborate for an integration of the data concerning the environmental issues of relative competence, with the aim of favoring the control and regulation of the market.

«Investigating relevant phenomena for the protection of the environment is the constitutional mandate of the Ecomafie Commission. To implement it, data is the fundamental and irreplaceable starting point. Precisely for this reason the protocol with Unioncamere is very important and will strengthen the effectiveness of the work of the Commission», declared the president of the Commission Stefano Vignaroli.

«Among the tasks of the Chambers of Commerce is the collection and management of a series of data and information of a public nature. These will be made available to the bicameral commission of inquiry into the waste cycle, to contribute to the fight against illegality in environmental matters», underlined the general secretary of Unioncamere, Giuseppe Tripoli. "It concerns, for example, the annual Mud declarations of 350 local units and about 150 companies registered in the Register of Environmental Managers".
