In June, retail sales in Italy fell by 1,2% on an annual basis and by 0,2% on a monthly basis. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that in the second quarter of 2011 the index fell by 0,1% compared to the January-March period. “Sales of food products – reads the report of the Institute of Statistics – record no variation and those of non-food products decrease by 1,8%”.
Again compared to June 2010, sales of large-scale distribution decreased by 0,3% and those of businesses operating on small surfaces by 1,9%. “In the first six months of 2011 – adds Istat – compared to the same period of 2010, the raw index decreased by 0,4%”. Sales of food products show a positive variation of 0,2% and those of non-food products a decrease of 0,7%.
