Cinema, box office: Pinocchio breaks the bank at Christmas

Christmas has the flavor of home and Pinocchio is the film of family love, even the smallest ones. King of receipts on Boxing Day and on the last weekend. Three out of five of the most watched films are Italian

It is the story of parents' unconditional love for their children, poetic, faithful, new in tradition. Awarded at the Box Office of the weekend as the most watched film and a collection of over 5 million euros.

If you want to make an impression by telling someone else's story you have to come up with something different and look at it from another angle. Matteo Garrone thus celebrates his Pinocchio with a masterful interpretation by Oscar winner Roberto Benigni in the role of Geppetto, the father who lets his son go, who watches him make his mistakes and embraces him again in sharing the joy of the new encounter.

Already on the day of Saint Stephen which is traditionally one of the richest in the Italian Box Office, Pinocchio won the box office with almost 1,9 million euros collected. “What a thrill to know that the film has been seen by so many spectators, young and old. We want to thank all the audience who chose Pinocchio and let themselves be carried away for a couple of hours in a magical world, where reality mixes with fantasy,” said Matteo Garrone.

In second position the fun new chapter of Jumanji: The next level warner which reaches 4.945.993 in five programming days. Closely third is another Italian film, Il First Christmas by Ficarra and Picone, with 4,5 million Star wars: The rise of Skywalker with a gross of over 3 million. In fifth position we still find an Italian film, that is The Goddess Fortuna by Ferzan Ozpetek with around 2,5 million.
