Btp Italia auction closed, 5,2 billion raised

Subscriptions down compared to the 8 billion collected in April – Success among institutional investors while subscriptions from small savers have decreased.

The Treasury has closed the auction of BTP Italy, the inflation-indexed security, with an 8-year maturity and an annual coupon rate of 0,35%. The issue, the second of 2016, was very popular with institutional investors, while subscriptions from small savers decreased.

In all they have been placed 5,2 billion securities, broken down as follows: in the placement period dedicated to retail investors, 31.019 contracts were concluded for a value of 2.219,918 million euro, while in the phase dedicated to institutional investors, the number of acceptance proposals received and executed was equal to 293 for an issued value of 3.000 million euro against a total requested of 3.321,465 million euro.

Very different numbers compared to those of last April's issue, when savers were assigned securities worth 4,2 billion, while institutional investors received 3,8 billion. Furthermore, it is a clear reduction compared to the total 8 billion of the last auction.
