Chef' Cup 2019: 16 starred chefs competing with dishes inspired by Design

Sixteen starred chefs from all over Italy they challenge each other in a single combat: create dishes inspired by design. After art, films, fairy tales, comics, fashion and music, the Sina Chefs' Cup Contest, now in its 7th edition, has chosen design as the theme for the 2019 edition. The competition that kicks off from Rome on Tuesday 19 March with the chefs Oliver Glowig, of the Barrique restaurant in Monteporzio Catone (Rm) e Paul Gramaglia of the President Restaurant in Pompeii. Competition ground the restaurant The Flair, which opened last February 7 on the top floor of the SINA Bernini Bristol Hotel, led by Alexander Caputo who will participate in the cooking show proposing two recipes from the menu.

Oliver Glowig he is a German who arrived in Italy over 25 years ago, brought by Gualtiero Marchesi to Albereta and was struck by the sun of Capri and Italy. He has twice won 2 Michelin stars, and is now the chef of the Barrique ”restaurant at the az. Vitivinicola Poggio Le Volpi of Rome, also taking care of the "Toca" of Toronto and the "Primavera" in Bahrain. Paul Gramaglia, on the other hand, although a true globetrotter, has his heart in Pompeii, in his restaurant "President" which he founded together with his wife Laila, a life and adventure partner. The cuisine of both is inspired by the Mediterranean and for both the research of the product on the territory is fundamental.

After Rome the race will then move to Perugia on March 26, Viareggio on May 14, Romano Canavese (Turin) on June 18, Venice on July 16, Florence on September 24, Parma on October 8 and Parma on October 22 in Milan with the final to follow.

The dinner events, real live shows, will allow the public to admire and taste the new dishes created for the occasion by the great chefs. Beyond Oliver Glowig and Paolo Gramaglia, Stefano Marzetti will also be in the race, Andrea Pasqualucci, Mauro Buffo, Igles Corelli, Umberto De Martino, Giovanni Di Giorgio, Davide Figliolini, Michelino Gioia, Erez Ohayon, Daniele Repetti, Filippo Saporito, Massimiliano Torterolo, Tino Vettorello, Massimo Viglietti.

In each stage, a jury of experts will vote on the pair of chefs and their creations, according to criteria of adherence to the chosen theme, complicity of the couple, goodness of the dish, value for money, aesthetic and artistic value; at the end of the seventh edition, the two protagonists of the winning couple will face each other for a challenge of excellence.

The competition was born from the idea that, today, food and wine is a real form of art, with the possibility for the public, in this case, to literally enjoy and enjoy the "works" of the "artists" chefs . And in addition to the great names in design such as Philip Stark, Gio Ponti, Giugiaro, Le Corbusier, who have been able to create world-famous works with their ideas, today design has also contaminated cooks, who in their culinary creations create works of food-based art, from which the concept of food design.

The excellent stage of the event, the hotels of the Sina Hotels group: the Villa Medici in Florence, the Bernini Bristol in Rome, the Centurion Palace and the Palazzo Sant'Angelo in Venice, the Brufani in Perugia, the Villa Matilde in Romano Canavese (TO), The Gray and De La Ville in Milan, the Maria Luigia in Parma, the Astor in Viareggio and the Flora in Capri.

Returning to the first stage of the event, guests will be welcomed by an aperitif by chef Alessandro Caputo with Roll of "non parmigiana" (one of the appetizers on the menu currently on the menu which recalls Alessandro's land, Sicily, and complex techniques that pay homage to a of his masters Heston Blumenthal). The dinner will begin with the fish-based appetizer, which Chef Gramaglia wanted to create in homage to nature by imagining "the circular wave that creates a stone thrown into the sea" reproduced on the plate itself. Chef Glowig is entrusted with the creation of first course "Vintage Mickey Mouse" which finds fulfillment in the Ravioli mussels, cacio e pepe e pomodoro, with the colors and shapes of the famous cartoon character. This will be followed by the "boiled" beef stew with sherry vinegar, horseradish macarons and black garlic and, finally, the tomato Caprese dessert, dishes prepared by the resident Chef Alessandro Caputo.

For enthusiasts, this year the possibility of "tasting" the recipes directly from the voice of the chefs, in radio connection with the Radio Godot program "Foodie in Town".

During the evening, homage will also be paid to Alessandro Narducci, the young chef who tragically died last year, who with his passion and skill had also conquered the judges of the past edition of the SINA Chefs' Cup Contest on the evening in Perugia, obtaining then the highest score together with Daniele Lippi.
