In Italy very little, maybe a coffee or a brioche at the bar in some areas of the country. In Belgium, for one thing, the sauce to accompany the chips. In England, according to some Internet users, absolutely nothing. In Uganda, however, you already buy 10 eggs, in Mexico a liter of milk, in Malaysia a glass of ice tea with lemon, in Thailand, Indonesia and Congo even full meals. Not to mention Venezuela, where with 1 dollar, or 73 euro cents, you can almost fill up on petrol.

La campaign #1dollar, tossed up Twitter by the World Bank to make the world population aware of poverty, invites its half a million followers and in general all Internet users on the planet to tweet what, in their countries, can actually be purchased with that modest sum. Through this original hashtag, which is going around the world, the international institute wanted above all to draw attention to the fact that over a billion people today live on less than 1,5 dollars (1,10 euros) a day.

And if for some this sum may be worth a minimum of complete nutrition, for others, how in Kenya and Pakistan according to some tweets, it can mean being able to afford just a loaf of bread. "If you think that poverty can and must be ended by 2030, leave your testimony to the politicians of the planet so that they understand that the goal must be common to all". At the moment, the Network has responded to the initiative launched on 11 October.
