Cgia Mestre: Northeast still at the top of the European competitiveness ranking

Nothing new from the northeastern front. Triveneto is still competitive and manages to compete in Europe. To say it is the Cgia of Mestre, which calculated the competitiveness index of 10 territories belonging to the largest and most advanced countries of the Old Continent, comparing it with that of the four areas of North-East Italy: Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano.

At the top of the list is the deep north. On the top step of the podium Stockholm, with 100 points. Then Upper Bavaria, with 94,6 points. Then Zuid-Holland with 84,2 points.

Stuttgart is in fourth place (84,7). Soon after comes Bolzano (72,5). Trento is in eighth place (48). Veneto (43) is tenth. Friuli Venezia Giulia closes the list of Italians (35,2) in twelfth place.

Twelve indicators examined: seven concern the labor market, two the wealth produced, one productivity, one poverty and the last one research and innovation.

“If the crisis has penalized our position in terms of labor market and GDP indicators – declares Giuseppe Bortolussi, secretary of the CGIA – we recover some positions when we analyze productivity. We lose less than others when we observe the trend of the risk of poverty, also thanks to the presence of both small family-run businesses and voluntary associations which guarantee a good level of social cohesion".
