Confindustria Study Center: industrial production -6,8% in February

The Confindustria Study Center notes the new decline in industrial production in February: -6,8% on an annual basis, -0,2% compared to January – Orders in volume are down – Weak activity also in the coming months, due to the further decline in domestic demand.

The decline in industrial production in Italy continues in February, decreased by 6,8% year-on-year (raw data). This was revealed by the Confindustria Study Centre, which also specifies that the decline in activity has continued uninterruptedly since the third quarter of 2011.

Compared to January, again according to the Csc, there was a decline of 0,2%. Net of the different number of working days, production fell by 3,3% in February, compared to the same month of the previous year, against the 4,1% drop recorded in January.

Order volumes are also down, decreased by 0,2% compared to January and by 2,1% year-on-year, while the distance from the pre-crisis peak of activity widened to 25,1%.

The short-term forecasts elaborated by the Confindustria Study Center are bleak: “a substantial weakness is emerging in the activity also in the coming months, especially due to the a further expected drop in domestic demand".
