CDP and Unicredit: 48,6 million for San Gerardo di Monza

CDP and UniCredit finance with 48,6 million euro the expansion and upgrading of the San Gerardo hospital in Monza.

The loan, announces a joint note from the two groups, "was finalized in favor of the company Synchron Nuovo San Gerardo SpA, a project company managed by Rekeep SpA., concession until 2044 for the management of the hospital facility, through a Project Financing operation with Lombard infrastructures , ASST of Monza".

The loan, insured with equal shares by the two institutions, serves to support a total investment of 167,5 million and also makes use of public contributions and the equity of the sponsors.

The works to be financed concern “the construction of new volumes and the functional reorganization of the activities of the San Gerardo hospital in Monza, the fourth largest public hospital in the Lombardy Region. Once these activities are completed, the hospital will have a total of 775 beds, of which 684 beds for ASST Monza and another 71 for the MBBM Foundation”.

“The operation – he explains Tommaso Sabato, Head of the CDP Infrastructure and Public Administration Division – constitutes an opportunity to strengthen our role as direct financier of social infrastructures, contributing to the improvement of the qualitative and quantitative standards of the health services offered to citizens. In this phase CDP has increased its commitment to support the development of strategic infrastructures, such as hospitals, providing both technical and financial assistance to accelerate the implementation of particularly important investments to overcome the country's difficulties".

“The crucial importance of investments in the health system – he added Andrea Casini, co-CEO Commercial Banking Italy of UniCredit – has been made dramatically evident by the recent pandemic. We are therefore particularly pleased to have structured this important financing operation, which helps to strengthen the structures and raise the standards of the San Gerardo health services, a garrison of excellence in the Brianza area on the front line also in the emergency linked to Covid 19 ".
