During today's Council of Ministers, the meeting of which lasted only half an hour, the Government took some measures among which the release the hiring of 58.348 teachers, principals and ATA staff. These are almost 52.000 teachers, over 6.200 Ata staff units and 259 principals. The decrees, three in all, which authorize the Miur to proceed, were confirmed with a tweet by the Minister of Public Administration Marianna Madia. The recruitment of teachers was expected, already anticipated by the owner of Education, Valeria Fedeli.

The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Justice Andrea Orlando, has also approved a bill that dictates new provisions on fair compensation and vexatious clauses in the sector of legal services. Finally, on the proposal of the President Paolo Gentiloni, the Government approved the declaration of the state of emergency in the territory of the Lazio and Umbria Regions, to allow the Civil Protection to deal with the emergency that arose following the current water supply crisis with extraordinary means and powers.

FUND FOR PLURALISM AND INFORMATION INNOVATION

The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the President Paolo Gentiloni, of the minister for sport with responsibility for publishing Luca Lotti and of the minister for economic development Carlo Calenda, approved, in definitive examination, the regulation for the allocation of the Fund's resources for information pluralism and innovation.

The provision, which has support for employment, innovation and the quality of information as merit criteria, was adopted pursuant to the 2016 stability law, which allocated part of the resources deriving from the recovery of fee evasion – up to 100 million euros – for the Information Pluralism and Innovation Fund. From this amount, up to 50 million will be allocated to local radio and television broadcasters and will add up to the resources already provided for the support of local broadcasters, amounting to approximately 67 million for 2017.

TAP AUTHORIZES THE CONTINUATION OF THE WORKS

The Council of Ministers also approved the authorization to continue the works relating to the project for the construction of a "TAP interconnection" methane pipeline in the Puglia region, in the section that involves the Melendugno area up to the connection node with the national gas pipeline network in territory of Messina.
